The University of California, San Diego, Department of Surgery (https://surgery.ucsd.edu/) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body and seeks to recruit Research Scientist(s) for the Divisions of Surgical Oncology and Surgical Sciences.

The selected candidate(s) will be responsible for performing studies and experiments related to the biology of pancreatic cancer and other gastrointestinal cancer. In addition, the successful candidate(s) will analyze, prepare presentations and reports summarizing data as well as provide onsite teaching to students in the lab. The candidate(s) will be expected to generate independent extramural grant support and contribute to the development and publication of high impact publications.

A reasonable salary range estimate for this position is $87,100 - $113,900. The posted UC academic salary scales (https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/compensation/2023-24-academic-salary-scales.html) set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. Requirements

Candidates must have a MD or equivalent, PhD in Cancer Biology or health related fields, or MD/PhD. Candidates must have 5 years of experience in pancreas biology and/or pancreatic cancer related research, at least 3 years of which should be at the postdoctoral level or beyond. Candidates with skills in organotypic slice culture and related assays and in standard molecular biology techniques are preferred. Creativity and the ability to innovate are preferred characteristics of the ideal applicants.
